Language Notice

California notaries are required to communicate with clients in the same language, without the help of an interpreter. If someone needing notarization does not speak English, please notify the notary immediately, as he will not be able to proceed with the notarization for that person.

Required statements:

  1. Unlike in other countries, notaries in the United States are not attorneys and cannot give legal advice. I am not an attorney and, therefore, cannot give legal advice about immigration or any other legal matters.
  2. The fee a notary public may charge for taking an acknowledgment or administering an oath may not exceed $15. Other fees set by statute that a notary public may charge can be found in California Government Code § 8211.
